Our Nordic Pure range of furnace filters are all manufactured from high quality pleated electrostatic filter material. Positively charged to draw more particles, these furnace filters are a highly evolved progression from the standard pleated air filter. Electrostatic material does not permit the growth of bacteria which is often a problem for other filters. MERV stands for minimum efficiency reporting value, in other words these values represent how efficient filters are at removing contaminates from the air.

We stock furnace filters that range in MERV ratings from MERV 7 through to MERV 15, with MERV 15 being the most efficient and suited for applications that have high filtration requirements.

We have supplied the below guide to work off, the truth is most consumers do not need excessively high MERV filtration levels. High MERV rated filters can also place additional strain on the furnace or air conditioners fan, causing it to slow down and ultimately deliver you less heating or cooling.

MERV 7
This is an entry level air filter rating and suitable for applications that don’t need high filtration. Providing 50% / 69% efficiency for filtering particles 3 / 10 microns in size (such as mold spores, dust mites, pollen, hair spray and cement dust).

MERV 8
A more efficient furnace filter when comparing with the MERV 7 range, capable of filtering up to 85% of particles 10 Microns in size and 70% for particles 3 Microns in size. (such as mold spores, dust mites, pollen, hair spray and cement dust).

MERV 10
The top MERV rating in our entry level furnace filters, capable of filtering up to 85%+ of particles 3 Microns in size, this filter will also filter 50-60% of particles 1.0-3.0 Microns in size.  (such as auto emissions, pet dander, mold spores, dust mites, pollen, hair spray and cement dust). This is our most recommended filter for households with no allergy suffers or pets in our entry level furnace filters.

MERV 11
The start of our superior range of furnace and air conditioner filters. Capable of filtering above 85% of particles 3-10 microns in size, and 65% of particles that are just 1 micron in size. Best suited for pet owners and people who have mild allergies and or asthma. This filter provides a good balance between filter efficiency and furnace performance. (Removes; pet dander, pollen, dust and lint, mold spores, smog, vehicle emissions, clothing fibers and hair spray.)

MERV 12
Capable of filtering above 90% of particles 3-10 microns in size, and 80% of particles that are just 1 micron in size. Best suited for pet owners and people who have allergies and or asthma. Capable of filtering 90% of particles just 1 microns in size! & up to 75% of particles between .30 and 1.0 micron is size, this includes viruses!. This is our highest recommended residential filter option. This filter grade provides a superior option for asthma / allergy sufferers and compromised individuals. Yes, we believe all furnace and air conditioners should be fitted with suitable filtration. Not only does the filter stop your furnace or air conditioners internal components from getting covered in dust, potentially increasing the chances of failure, but it also filters the air your breath in your home or office and its usually the main tool in controlling indoor air quality.

Unless highlighted in the main product description, all of our Nordic Pure air filter range is disposable/single use. You may at first think reusable filters are the smart, ecofriendly way to manage your furnace filter requirements. The problem with many reusable filters is, they are less efficient at removing small potentially harm particles from the air, you will also need to step up your filter cleaning routine to ensure the filter works as intended, as soon as your see any wear or clogging you will need to replace it. Most users tended to clean their reusable filter with chemicals to try remove the dirt, the problem here is that the filter absorbs those chemicals and you then use the filter inside exposing yourself and others around you to potential harm.
